My name is Carey. I am a mother and a grandmother. I love to be outdoors fishing, hiking, camping and photographing the world around me.
My love of photography began when I was ten years old and my mother gave me my first camera. It has been finger on the shutter button ever since. In 2001 I started shooting family portraits for friends and I built my company from there.
My deepest love is in wedding photography. The excitement of the wedding day, the emotions of the bride and groom, and the love of family is what has drawn me to this type of work. I like to meet with the couples to go over their plans, show them a portfolio, and then we can decide if we are a match. Having the right photographer on your wedding day is very important. Your images are what you will have after the cake and food is gone and the party is over.
I am a member of Professional Photographers of America and am Wedding Wire rated. I shoot freestyle, meaning that I shoot in many styles in order to capture fun and unique images.
I also create business brochures, save the dates, graduation invitations, Christmas cards, etc. so if you are in need of any printed media I can be at your service.
Q & A...
1. How long have you been photographing families?
I started shooting portraits for friends in 2001. In 2004 I started my business and have been shooting for many more families since. I find it easy to relate, having 5 children of my own. They grew up with a camera in their face and now my (currenty) 5 grand children will grow up in much the samel way. I have seen so much hurt and loss in the past. Families who have lost a child, mother, father etc. and then regret not having those photos to remember them by. I promised myself and my children that I would never allow that to be the case in our family.
2. What should we wear to our session?
Each family is different and has a different style. That's what I want to capture in your images. I want you to feel free to be who you are. Let's face it... not everyone looks good in white so mix and match the colors in your group. Bring a couple outfits and let the younger children dress themselves for a few shots. You will treasure their style when they are older.
3. What should I expect during my session?
Depending on location and the type of session you would like, I may direct you in a few poses. I love the natural look and that is my shooting style so I will give you a lot of freedom and fun in your session. It's not about making everyone look perfect because if you insist on that it won't happen. People need to feel relaxed and free. Let that energetic child run and we can get the shots. Props can be added and I may use some chairs or other things to help with direction. The main thing is that everyone feels comfortable.
4. How do I hire you?
To hire me you can email me, text, call, we can skype, chat, facebook, etc... We can also go over clothing choices, questions you may have, ideas, poses, or, if it is an event or wedding, we can discuss details of the day and images that are important to you.
